Terminologia de les plataformes de vídeo a la carta

This dictionary gathers a hundred basic terms linked to VOD platforms, an audiovisual service in transformation, with a large number of consumers and a significant impact as an industry creating content that can be consumed on demand. Each term has equivalent denominations in six Romance languages: Catalan, Spanish (European and Mexican variants), French (European and Canadian variants), Galician, Italian, Portuguese (European and Brazilian variants),  and also in English.  The definitions are in Catalan.

The terms refer to the various fields that can be consulted in the concept diagram. On the one hand, you will find terms referring to the management of user accounts on the platforms and also to the navigation of the content viewing interfaces. On the other hand, terms specific to the audiovisual products and genres themselves have been collected. Also, terms linked to business management, from a business and marketing point of view. And finally, terms related to the telecommunications systems that make video on demand technologically possible.

The work was published in 2023 as a result of a collaboration between TERMCAT and other organizations and experts in the field. In 2025, within the framework of the REALITER network, several organizations contributed equivalents in Romance languages, and they are referenced in the  Work team document.

Clicking on "Consulta de termes" ('Term search'), terms can be looked up in three ways: using the alphabetical indexes (there is a different index for each language), using the thematic index, or making simple or advanced searches in the upper space "Text de la consulta" ('Text search') in any of the dictionary languages.
